Economic Justice Hevra & Workers’ Rights

Organizing and Advocacy Economic Justice
The BJ Economic Justice Hevra has worked on a number of economic justice issues over the years, including the successful Living Wage NYC Campaign, the enactment of the Domestic Worker Bill of Rights in the NY State Legislature and currently the Justice For Farmworkers (JFW) Campaign. We are partnering with the JFW NY State Coalition and Rural and Migrant Ministry to bring together BJ members, advocates for farmworker labor rights, and farmworkers in support of passage in the NY State Legislature of the Farmworker Fair Labor Practices Act. Through these relationships and our support of this legislation, we are establishing a fuller understanding of ethical consumption and how we can extend that definition to include the people who bring us the food we consume. The Economic Justice Hevra is open to the possibility of expanding our work to include additional economic justice issues.

This group will meet monthly throughout the year.
